Running endurance comes in two varieties – you either going for more distance or you’re looking to increase your pace for a static distance.
Many of the guys focused on increasing their pace are either working down their times on a 5k, 10k or marathon – but some are also just trying to focus on better times for that weekend course they like to hit. The good news is that we’ll cover both of these goals – distance-endurance as well as speed-endurance.
Before digging into the recommend approaches one thing that we did want to point attention to was a recent article by Kris Berg – a leading exercise physiologist where he concludes after researching endurance methods for over ten years is the importance of what he refers to at mind-body wisdom.
What this means is that running is a very mental exercise and it's best to not force it running workouts or endurance exercises but rather try out a variety of approaches and then see which ones work best for you physically, but also and just as importantly, which work out best for you mentally.
1. Target Time 800m’s by Best Fat Burner
With this approach, you set a timed goal for yourself for a distance race and then divide that out to see what you’re average 800m (or 1/2 mile time would be). Then you apply an interval training approach to this by repeating 800m runs at the targeted time. If the goal is to run a
marathon with at a time of 5 hours – 26 miles / 300 minutes = 8 1/2 minute mile.

800m run. The goal is to build up to 10 of the 4 1/4 minute 800m runs before the marathon.
It’s recommended to run one of these target time 800m’s once a week, and start out with what feels right – maybe 4 or 5 800m’s at the target speed if possible.
